Transformation of Budapest’s Nyugati Tér Announced
A tender launched by the Budapest Transport Centre (BKK) invites plans for the dismantling of the flyover at Nyugati train station to be followed by a new tram line linking nearby Lehel tér to Deák tér.

The winning bidder will also have to present a detailed feasibility study, prepare a cost-profit analysis, and produce an environmental impact study, according to the website of Magyar Építők.

The new 2.2-kilometre tram line between Deák tér and Lehel tér – presumably running along Bajcsy-Zsilinszky út – will have ten new tram stops.

The deadline for the completion of the construction project is December 31, 2027.
