In the wake of a recent Constitutional Court ruling, the city of Budapest will "continue to fight for justice" in a suit concerning the city's solidarity tax, Mayor Gergely Karácsony said on Facebook.
The ruling Fidesz-Christian Democrats (KDNP) alliance will field 65 seasoned and 41 new candidates at the 2026 parliamentary elections, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, Fidesz's leader, told the party congress.
"If Fidesz does not stop cheating, it may win the election, but if they win because of this, we will not recognise it, we will shut down the country peacefully but very decisively," independent lawmaker Ákos Hadházy said.
