Updated: Close to 4,900 Businesses Apply for EV Subsidies in Hungary
Close to 4,900 businesses have submitted applications for subsidies in a scheme to support purchases of EVs, the Energy Ministry said in a post on social media, one year after the launch of the scheme.

The companies have applied for more than HUF 22bn of support out of the HUF 30bn total, for the purchase of more than 5,700 vehicles. Most of those applications are for passenger cars.

More than 3,800 of the businesses have already been allocated a combined HUF 17.4bn, and more than HUF 7bn has been disbursed to one-third of applicants.

Chinese brand BYD was the most popular among applicants, accounting for 1,378 of purchases.

Businesses may apply for grants of between HUF 2.8m and HUF 4m per vehicle, depending on battery capacity, in the programme funded from the European Union's REPowerEU.

The scheme runs until March 2025.

The companies have applied for HUF 22.8bn of support out of the HUF 30bn total, for the purchase of more than 5,900 vehicles, including close to 4,600 passenger cars and around 1,300 LCVs.

Over 4,300 Companies Apply for EV Subsidies in Hungary

More than 4,300 companies have applied for over HUF 20bn of subsidies to purchase battery electric vehicles, the Energy Ministry said.

Applications from around 3,400 of those companies have already been approved. About HUF 4.7bn of the subsidies have been paid out.

Businesses may apply for grants of between HUF 2.8m and HUF 4m per vehicle, depending on battery capacity, in the programme funded from the European Union's REPowerEU.

The HUF 30bn scheme runs until March 2025.
