Vintner Grand Tokaj to Step Up Quality After Making Losses in Hungary
Vintner Grand Tokaj will focus its efforts on producing higher quality wine in future, a member of the board of trustees of the foundation that runs Tokaj-Hegyalja University, the cellars' owner said.

Gyorgy Waberer, who also co-chairs the development council for the Tokaj wine-growing region, said the board of trustees had approved a plan to boost the quality of the company's products.

Grand Tokaj's management will draft a business plan ensuring the company purchases only grapes that meet strict quality criteria, according to an announcement on the university's website. Grand Tokaj will halve its grape purchases this year, while doubling its purchase price to HUF 280/kg, it added.

Grand Tokaj had a loss of HUF 526m on revenue of over HUF 3.1bn in 2023, public records show.
