Over 1 Billion Bottles Recycled in Hungary by Mohu

More than 1 billion beverage bottles and cans have been recycled and on average 100 units are returned every second since the launch of the compulsory Deposit Return System (DRS) six months ago, the MOL subsidiary reported in a statement.

Data shows that, on average, consumers return 18 bottles or cans per transaction.

Retailers participating as REpoints have received Ft 7.2 billion for managing reverse vending machines and manual returns.

Consumers redeemed Ft 40 billion in vouchers, but can also choose bank transfers or donations as alternatives.
