International music lovers in Budapest will get their first chance to experience his melancholic, surreal soundscapes in person when he makes his Hungarian debut on October 28 in the Small Hall at Dürer Kert.

Korbenski is an artist who resists easy categorization. His songs blend instantly memorable hooks with intricate electronic flourishes, processed vocals, and unpredictable stylistic pivots.

While listeners might spot subtle nods to a vast array of influences — ranging from Kurt Vile and Cocteau Twins to Black Sabbath and The xx — he has ultimately built a sound entirely his own. Beyond the music itself, Korbenski operates as a prolific, self-taught creative force who writes, records, and crafts the visual identity for his own releases.

For those looking to explore his catalog, his 2025 release Sex Angel offers an ideal entry point. Korbenski describes the album as a study in positive realizations — those rare moments when, after navigating a prolonged rough patch, a sense of clarity finally begins to emerge.

Yet, optimism in his world is rarely simple. Bright moments sit alongside quiet melancholy, surreal imagery, and a touch of darkness.

He offers his own vivid description of the sound he set out to capture: "an album you found on a floppy disk in a puddle and then you took it home, put it on your iPod, and it became the soundtrack to your summer of fun and debauchery." That unusual image captures the core of Sex Angel remarkably well, balancing a sense of playfulness with something slightly fractured and nostalgic.
 

This duality stands out clearly across the album's tracks. On "Ratworm," an energetic melody runs alongside bizarre visual imagery and fractured vocal takes.

The path to completing Sex Angel was notoriously circuitous. Following his 2024 album When You Gonna Tell ’Em The Truth, Aaron?, Korbenski began writing a new body of work, only to abandon the entire initial version.

Starting over brought considerable creative doubt, leading him to wonder if he had lost his edge. Ultimately, completing the record brought an important realization: if the feeling of failure ever returned, it would likely never shake him quite as deeply again.

Brought to life on stage, Korbenski's recorded material takes on an entirely new dynamic. Performing alongside a rotating lineup of backing musicians while keeping his face hidden behind his signature mask, his live shows remain just as unpredictable as his songwriting.

Intimate, quiet passages frequently erupt into controlled bursts of noise, held together by a strong melodic thread.

His upcoming appearance at Dürer Kert's Small Hall gives concertgoers a chance to experience one of the British alternative scene's most intriguing emerging figures in an appropriately close-quarters setting.
