“This event has truly found its home in our city,” Csákovics shared, noting Zamárdi’s pride in its growing association with rowing. The mayor himself plans to take on the 8km course, joining thousands in this spirited celebration of water sports.

Organized by the Hungarian Kayak-Canoe Federation, the festival aims to make water sports accessible to all. “Our goal is to bring the joy of paddling to everyone, from beginners to enthusiasts,” said Gergely Vida, the event’s organizing director.

With nearly 5,000 participants expected—alongside friends and family cheering them on—the festival promises a lively, inclusive atmosphere that captures the essence of a Balaton summer.

The 8km course, stretching from Zamárdi to Tihany and back, offers breathtaking views of Lake Balaton’s turquoise waters and rolling hills. Participants can choose their vessel—kayak, canoe, SUP, dragon boat, or dinghy—making the event welcoming to all skill levels.

This year, the festival will celebrate a milestone, awarding its 20,000th finisher medal, redesigned for 2025 in a striking, collectible form that every rower will receive upon crossing the finish line.
