The survey found that the “Magyar Termék” label is not only the most recognised among similar marks, but also the most trusted.

More than 90% of respondents said they were familiar with it, and nearly 77% regularly buy products that carry the label. When it comes to food, that number rises to an impressive 86.6%.

Shoppers associate the trademark with key qualities such as:
 

• being made by Hungarian workers,

• high reliability, and

• strict quality control.
   

Because these values are seen as guaranteed by the independent trademark system, more than half of those surveyed said they are willing to pay a 5–10% premium for products bearing the mark — across all product categories.

Eszter Benedek, managing director of Magyar Termék Nonprofit Kft., highlighted the trademark’s role in supporting conscious consumer choices.

“When people choose Hungarian products, they’re not just opting for reliability — they’re also supporting the national economy,” she said.

She noted that companies using the trademark have formed a strong economic community, with a combined annual turnover of HUF 4,700 billion (EUR 11.8 billion). Today, nearly 6,000 products from 250 companies carry the label.

Benedek called on Hungarian producers to strengthen their collaboration and demonstrate that they can deliver goods of international quality.

She also urged consumers to actively seek out products with the trusted Hungarian origin label, adding that such joint efforts offer a real chance to succeed in an increasingly competitive market.
