Special Half Price: 'Neapolitan Pizza Night' Returns in Hungary, 19 September
- 15 Sep 2025 6:39 PM
Each participating venue will offer three different pizzas at 50% off between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m., while supplies last. Some restaurants are taking reservations in advance, but many will operate on a first-come, first-served basis, aiming to capture the lively Neapolitan spirit — so turning up early is advised.
Neapolitan pizza has been recognised by UNESCO since 2017 as part of the world’s intangible cultural heritage. What sets it apart is its long fermentation, hand-stretched dough, light and airy crust, and juicy centre, baked in a matter of minutes in a blazing hot oven. Hungary’s pizza scene has embraced these traditions in recent years, with a growing number of skilled pizzaiolos and dedicated pizzerias.
The event was founded by Gábor Nóth, who first encountered authentic Neapolitan pizza during a trip to Naples. “What struck me was the simplicity, the high-quality ingredients, and the theatrical ovens,” he recalls.
“You watch your pizza being made in front of you in just a few minutes, all in that vibrant, slightly chaotic atmosphere. The idea of this event is to share that experience: real pizza is Neapolitan, and Neapolitan is the real deal.”
This year’s Pizza Night stretches from Tatabánya in northern Hungary to Veszprém near Lake Balaton, with dozens of participating venues in Budapest as well. Highlights in the capital include Monalizza, Forni di Napoli, Circo (two locations), MOTO (four locations), Fermento, and Passata.
Reservations, where required, can be made up until noon on 19 September through links on the official website, which also lists every participating restaurant. Do expect long queues at some locations, as demand is high.
To make the promotion as fair as possible, each guest is limited to one half-price pizza. Organisers will also share real-time updates on Facebook and Instagram throughout the evening.
