The ministry said consumers had reported lost packages and package lockers that failed to function, while many consumer complaints were not handled properly.

The consumer protection probe is being launched by the Metropolitan Government Office.

Meanwhile, DPD Hungary acknowledges late deliveries in Budapest

Express delivery company DPD Hungary acknowledged that some of its deliveries in the capital and environs were late because of high package volume ahead of the holidays in a statement.

DPD Hungary said it took full responsibility for resolving under par service in those areas. It added that around 10pc of packages were affected.
