OFF-Biennále Budapest - Largest Independent Contemporary Art Event, Now On Until 15 June
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the event, which began as a grassroots initiative aimed at strengthening the local independent art scene - and fostering public discourse on pressing social, political, and environmental issues.

Hungary's largest independent contemporary art event series just kicked-off, and is set to run until June 15 this year.

The 2025 edition, titled Poems of Unrest, centers on the concept of "security"—a fundamental human need increasingly manipulated in political rhetoric.

The biennale invites artists and audiences to explore this theme through various lenses, including migration, climate crisis, systemic inequality, and bodily autonomy.

Exhibitions and Events

Visitors can experience 15 contemporary art exhibitions and over 40 accompanying events, such as performances, film screenings, and public interventions, across multiple venues in Budapest.

The central exhibition, these walls are not here to defend us, is hosted at the historic Merlin building (1052 Budapest, Károly krt. / Városháza Park), a renovated Art Deco venue with a rich cultural history.
