The production engages all our senses as an ancient mythical story unfolds through the language of dance and contemporary circus in a modern form. Created by the internationally acclaimed Recirquel Company, the show is a blend of theatre, exhibition, and an adventure novel brought to life.
Upon entering the gates of Walk My World, visitors awaken in another reality, stepping behind the scenes of a living film. They find themselves surrounded by gods, mortals and strange mythological creatures in a rich, unexplored space. As each guest embarks on their own journey, they explore the tales of mythical heroes.
In a world shaped by the games of gods, intrigue, deceit and love, anything can happen.
Visitors decide where to go, what to discover, whom to follow, which secret room to peek into and whether to take a sip from a potion left on a table in one of the steamy rooms. By moving from room to room, they reveal new secrets, encounter extraordinary creatures and uncover fresh episodes of their personal storyline.
The 6,000 square meter space overflows with untold details and mysteries, featuring destructive battles, bustling crowds and demigods from the underworld who beckon them forward.
Walk My World brings to life the tragic love story of Aeneas and Dido, a famous episode from the ancient Roman poet Virgil.
The myth reappears in a modern form, merging mesmerising contemporary circus and dance acts that resonate with all the senses and create a pulsating, sensual world. The choreographies showcase over twenty contemporary circus genres and a wide range of distinctive dance styles.
As visitors walk through a mythical world that looks like film sets, shaped by creators from the Hollywood film industry, they observe the performers up close as more and more mysteries unfold before their eyes.
The production includes 40 performance spaces and over 10,000 props in total. Walk My World presents a truly unique blend of theatre, exhibition, and immersive adventure. Its multi threaded, constantly evolving story captivates visitors from the first moment, both through the events around them and through the richness of the space that surrounds them.
Most objects in the monumental, film like set can be touched and examined, and many of them conceal additional stories.
The vast area features forty separate performance spaces, each fully furnished with sets and more than 10,000 props.
These include a grand battlefield with a 15 meter high ceiling, a bustling marketplace with 25 market carts and booths converted from military trailers, a mystical labyrinth, sanctuaries of the gods and homes of mortals, as well as a military bunker, a field surgeon’s chamber, a chemical laboratory, a perfume vendor’s cart and a sultry bar.
The film like experience is enhanced by a rich material culture filled with custom made props and set pieces, including a five meter tall robot that collaborates with the performers.
Bence Vági, founder and artistic director of Recirquel, explains that Walk My World becomes a one of a kind attraction for both culture and tourism in the Hungarian capital, offering a scale of experience previously seen only in cities like New York, Shanghai and London. It is the first production of its kind that merges contemporary circus and modern dance, making it accessible to anyone, regardless of cultural or linguistic background.
More than 30 world class performers take part in the show. The artistic concept of Walk My World is developed by the creative team of Recirquel, led by Bence Vági.
The set design, costumes, music, lighting and character creation all come from Hungarian artists. The cast is selected through an extensive international casting process, bringing together performers from four continents. In total, 32 elite acrobats and dancers form the ensemble of Walk My World.
Walk My World runs as a resident production in Budapest at Millenáris, Building B (Nagycsarnok), with performances five times a week.
Tickets are available on the show’s official website.
