National Holiday in Hungary on March 15: Orbán to Deliver Speech at Budapest's Kossuth Square
- 11 Mar 2026 12:59 PM
The organisers will also welcome participants of the Peace March to the programme and speech marking the national holiday, Zoltan Kovacs said on Facebook.
As in previous years, the main events of the national holiday will begin on March 14, with the Kossuth and Szechenyi awards being presented in Parliament, he said.
The Hungarian flag will be raised in Kossuth Square at 7.30am on March 15, and a commemorative ceremony will begin at the same location at 1pm, including Orban's speech, he added.
As part of a programme dubbed Open Parliament, visitors can view the grand staircase, the dome hall, and the Holy Crown in Parliament free of charge from 3pm to 6pm on March 15, he added.

Budapest Traffic and Public Transport Disruptions for March 15 National Holiday
Due to celebrations and demonstrations for Hungary’s national holiday on March 15, expect road closures and public transport changes in central Budapest on both March 14 and 15. These will primarily impact the downtown area and key routes, so visitors and residents should plan trips in advance.
BKK services will follow the standard Sunday and public holiday timetable on March 15, but large-scale event closures will disrupt transport citywide. Drivers should steer clear of the city center—opt for rail services like the metro, which will run more often to handle crowds.
