Vietnamese Brothers Charged for Selling Fake Luxury Brands from Hungary
Charges have been filed against two Vietnamese brothers based in Hungary who sold counterfeit luxury brands, the chief prosecutor for Somogy County (SW Hungary) said this Wednesday.

The Asian brothers ran large-scale illegal trade since 2020, importing huge quantities of fakes from China and Vietnam, which they hid in rented warehouses in Hungary registered under unrelated companies to avoid detection

Their illegal operation is said to have caused HUF 16 billion (€42m) in damage to brand owners, including over HUF 3 billion to a major Swiss watchmaker, plus perfumes, clothing and fashion items.

They supplied not just Hungarian but also German and Italian customers, sending photos and taking bulk orders via phone apps or verbally.

The case broke open in April 2025 when customs on the M7 motorway in Somogy pulled over a lorry with 23 boxes of fake perfume headed to Italy.

Then raids on Budapest warehouses uncovered tens of thousands of counterfeit clothes, perfumes and fashion items.

The brothers, currently in custody, admitted guilt under a plea deal with prosecutors, who seek prison sentences for 'industrial property violations' causing significant financial harm.
