The local unit of Decathlon started a refurbishment programme of its stores in 2024 which will continue with their store in Gyor (NW Hungary), Fekete said.

He said they currently have 24 stores across the country, giving them a good national coverage, but are planning on opening more stores in smaller cities. They have plans to open one more unit by the end of the year, and are looking at smaller store formats.

Fekete said Decathlon has 1,500 employees in Hungary and they achieved 9pc revenue growth in their 2025 business year compared to the year before. At the start of 2026 revenue growth was in the double digits which they hope to maintain going forwards.

Decathlon had HUF 86.2bn revenue in their 2024 business year, public records show.
