Buda Tram Network Expansion Contract Signed Worth HUF 32 billion
Minister of Transport and Investment David Vitezy announced on Friday that he has signed a HUF 32.3bn contract for European Union development funds for expanding the interconnected tram network on the Buda side of the capital.

Vitezy said the new tram line will be built between Szent Gellert Square and Budafoki Street, via the embankment in front of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME).

The investment is managed by his ministry and is being implemented in cooperation with the Budapest Transport Centre (BKK). It is expected that the utility replacement works will start this fall, and the larger construction phases will begin next year on the entire route.

According to the contract, the tram line must be fully completed by 2029, Vitezy said.
