According to the Badacsony Tourism and Wine Route Association, the awards reflect not only the success of individual producers but also the region’s overall development, expertise, and growing international competitiveness.
At this year’s VinAgora International Wine Competition, Badacsony wineries collected a total of seven gold and four silver medals.
Gold medals were awarded to Folly Arboretum and Winery for its “Budai Zöld 2025” and “Cédrus 2024,” Éliás Estate for “Fent a hegyen Olaszrizling 2024,” Büttner Winery for “Kéknyelű 2022,” Sipos Wine House for both “Rajnai Rizling 2024” and “Rózsakő 2024,” and Sike Balázs Winery for “SBP Badacsonyi Furmint 2023.”
Silver medals went to Varga Winery for “Aranymetszés Badacsonyi Late Harvest Olaszrizling 2022,” Éliás Estate for “Megérint Late Harvest Olaszrizling 2023,” Nimfeum Winery for “Rajnai Rizling 2024,” and Sipos Wine House for “The Olasz of the Rizlings 2024.”
Commenting on the recognition, Csaba Éliás, owner and winemaker of Éliás Estate, said that wine competitions serve as important professional feedback, offering not only medals but also objective evaluations of the work carried out in both the vineyard and the cellar.
At the GROW du Monde competition, Sipos Wine House received a platinum medal for its “The Olasz of the Rizlings 2024.”
Reflecting on the award, owner Balázs Sipos noted that international recognition is the result of sustained effort rather than a single moment, pointing to years of deliberate vineyard management, precise cellar practices, careful yield control, and a deep understanding of terroir, along with numerous professional decisions that together enable a wine to rank among the best.
Further success came in the form of gold medals at GROW du Monde. Folly Arboretum and Winery was recognised for “Olaszrizling 2025” and “Cédrus 2024,” while Borbély Family Winery received awards for “Bács Hegy Badacsonyi Olaszrizling 2023” and “Karós Badacsonyi Olaszrizling Limited Selection 2021.”
Éliás Estate earned gold medals for “Sziklás Olaszrizling 2024” and “Fent a hegyen Olaszrizling 2025,” and Laposa Estate was recognised for “Kápolna Olaszrizling 2021” and “Apukám Világa 2023.” Sike Balázs Winery also secured a gold medal for “Badacsonyi Olaszrizling 2600 2025.”
According to the Badacsony Tourism and Wine Route Association, the 2026 results at VinAgora and GROW du Monde highlight how the region has moved beyond its well-known traditions to establish a strong contemporary presence on the international stage.
The area’s volcanic terroir, indigenous grape varieties, modern winemaking practices, and the commitment of its producers collectively contribute to wines that are increasingly competitive at a global level.
