Lead actors Ansel Elgort and Thomasin McKenzie have been filming scenes across the Hungarian capital, with one particularly memorable sequence recently shot at Budai Vigadó in Budapest’s 1st District.

Ansel Elgort and Thomasin McKenzie have been in Budapest for some time now to film the biographical drama about Audrey Hepburn (1929-1993).

According to Deadline, filming is well underway, as evidenced by the release of a few stills from the movie.

The film titled Dinner with Audrey is set in Paris, in 1953. Twenty-four-year-old Audrey Hepburn (played by Thomasin McKenzie) is a rising actress on the cusp of international fame, yet she is tormented by secret insecurities.

Director Billy Wilder sends her on a mission to find an authentic wardrobe for his upcoming film, Sabrina (1954). This is how she ends up at the fashion house of the young and exhausted Hubert de Givenchy (portrayed by Ansel Elgort).

Although he initially rejects her, Audrey’s persistence and unique charm spark a connection between them rooted in their shared artistic vision.

Over the course of a single eventful night, Audrey and Hubert risk their careers to help one another, igniting the spark of a legendary creative partnership that would last forty years.

The production recently filmed scenes at Budapest’s beautiful Budai Vigadó. In one scene shot beside the illuminated fountain, the two actors were engaged in an emotional conversation when McKenzie’s character suddenly exclaimed, “I’m terrified” capturing Hepburn’s distinctive mannerisms. Elgort’s character echoed the line before the pair walked hand in hand through the small park. 

Thomasin McKenzie wore a little black dress (a style closely associated with Audrey Hepburn’s timeless elegance) and sported a wig, to resemble Audrey Hepburn as much as she can.

Ansel Elgort appeared in formal attire, easily looking the part of the legendary French fashion designer. Prior to shooting, the actors were seen rehearsing with the crew to get the angles and lighting right.
