Cinco De Mayo Street Party In Budapest 2013
The secret to success is that there is no secret. Read all the books, listen to all the talks, but nothing beats actually doing it. Iguana has been doing the business since 1997, and has seen many changes in Budapest in its time.
The one thing that has not changed is the place. Saturday was no different: this was Iguana's 16th “Cinco de Mayo Street Party”.
Cinco de Mayo commemorates the Mexican army's unlikely defeat of the French Imperial Army at the “Battle of Puebla” on May 5, 1862.
Iguana's party is the largest “Cinco de Mayo” celebration in Europe, and features live music, outdoor bars, outdoor grills, a kid's play area with face painters, balloon makers and baby sitters for partying parents.
What makes this such a success is consistency, working hard to keep it simple, and of course the weather. This was a fab, fun festival and long may it continue…which it did late into the night.
