Xpat interview: Tony Prior, Former Director, ClearWater Kft
Tony Prior was born in Prince George B.C. Canada but grew up mostly in Vancouver. Before entering the water business Tony worked in the hotel business, ran his own tour company and managed a large call center in Vancouver.

He now works for ClearWater Kft. as the Director of Operations. In addition to this he heads up the ClearWater Group training center, which runs management training programs on Leadership and Teambuilding in interesting locations such as river rafting in Victoria falls, Zimbabwe and learning to sail off the coast of Turkey.

Tony first arrived in Budapest in 1999 after spending 1 year in the Clearwater Moscow office. He is married and has 2 young children: Adam and Nico. His interests include squash, tennis, movies and music.

1. When did you arrive in Hungary and what brought you here?
1999. I was transferred from our Moscow office...hallelujah!

2. Have you ever been an expatriate elsewhere?
Munich

3. What surprised you most about Hungary?
Hot..very hot

4. Friends are in Budapest for a weekend--what must they absolutely see and do?
Széchényi baths in the winter, wine festival in the castle district in September

5. What is your favorite Hungarian food?
Langos...until 2 hours after I eat it....then I hate it

6. What is never missing from your refrigerator?
Milk

7. What is your favorite Hungarian word?
Takarítok

8. What do you miss the most from home?
Courteous drivers

9. What career other than yours would you love to pursue?
Road Manager for Gomez, New Pornographers, My Morning Jacket or U2

10. What's a job you would definitely never want?
Retail or anything inside a shopping mall

Austria

Rome
