Xpat Interview: Mercedes Gyorgy
I am an American/ Hungarian. My parents left Hungary in 1956 and made their way through Canada to America .



Hungarian was my first language and I decided to bring my son here to learn the language and experience European life. We arrived in September and have enjoyed getting to know our relatives and Budapest.

I recently began working with CityLets, a property management/ leasing company Based in Budapest and London. CityLets specializes in investment property purchasing, renovations, management, and leasing. I worked in the Beverly Hills Ca. and Florida real estate markets and look forward to much success here as well.


1. When did you arrive in Hungary and what brought you here?

September 2008

2. Have you ever been an expatriate elsewhere?
This is my first time living out of the U.S

3. What surprised you most about Hungary?
The lack of dental care of many of the Hungarians

4. Friends are in Budapest for a weekend - what must they absolutely see and do?
Hike up Gelert Hegy, a walk down Andrassy út,, Hero's square and the castle and a boat ride down the river.

5. What is your favourite Hungarian food?
I love the pastries

6. What is never missing from your refrigerator?
Food

7.What is your favourite Hungarian word?
Can't say

8. What do you miss most from home?
My son misses his friends and I miss the beach

9. What career other than yours would you love to pursue?
I am doing what I want right now

10. What's a job you would definitely never want?
Working on peoples feet or masseuse

11. Where did you spend your last vacation?
Beaver Creek, Colorado skiing

12. Where do you hope to spend your next holiday?
Croatia, a friend has a villa on one of the islands

13. What was your favourite band, film, or hobby as a teen?
I don't remember????

14. What can't you resist?
Handsome witty men, Ice cream and good pastries

Red

Depends

18. Which social issue do you feel most strongly about?
There are many

Both for different reasons

Less is More!
