What inspired you to become a hairstylist? Did you always want to be one?
My father advised me to choose this profession as I’ve always been creative and liked to work with people.
Do you have a role model or a professional hairstylist who had a big effect/impact on your work?
I would say Patrick Cameron, a bun specialist, an excellent professional, who surprises us each year with the most creative and inspirational bun creations.
What special personal qualities and strengths are required to be outstanding in this field?
It’s really important to recognize the client’s personal style and understand their preferences, and to bring the maximum out of a certain hair type to fit the face shape in accordance with the latest fashion trends.
When and how did you decide to open your own hair salon?
When I started my hairdressing school, I already had a dream of opening my own hair salon at Kolosy tér. After seven years of professional experience, my dream finally came true. I think you have to work hard and fight to realize your dream, but once it’s realized, you will feel incredibly happy.
What products are you working with?
I work exclusively with Wella Professional hair care products.
What are the latest and hottest hairstyle trends? Do you like them?
The latest trends are the natural-looking easy to do and easy to maintain hairstyles both in cut and color. Each trend brings something new, that we, hairstylist can use in our daily work. The change in hair trends enables us to grow and professionally improve, while trying out new tricks and staying creative.
What was the most extreme/extraordinary hairdo that you were asked to do?
Usually, hairdos for special occasions (proms, weddings, Halloween) are the most extraordinary. They come in various shapes and styles, which, depending on the occasion, can be romantic or extreme. They are unique, and a style created correctly will not only look fabulous, but will be long-lasting, too.
What accomplishments are you most proud of?
I am proud of all my work, because my clients always leave my salon happy, therefore I am also happy. :-) My salon’s motto is: “Guest satisfaction comes first.”
What is your favorite sector/genre in the hairdressing industry? What do you like to do most?
I love to cut hair, but my real satisfaction lies in the preparation of special buns and updos.
What is your favorite hairdo?
I really like the one and only, classic bob/Cleopatra hairstyle that will never go out of fashion and can be done and styled in many different/new ways. The Cleopatra bob is one of the easiest styles to maintain, thus it is very popular among women in all age groups.
What are your plans for the near and distant future?
My long-term plan is to expand my business and further increase the number of clients. My everyday plan is to further develop professionally.
What advice would you give someone considering hairstyling for a career?
I often suggest to students to be committed and persistent. They are choosing one of the best professions within the customer service area, where technical and professional skills are not enough; they must also have strong interpersonal skills, and demonstrate high levels of tolerance and empathy. It’s quite hard to build up a circle of clients, but once it’s done, persistence will pay off by seeing your satisfied customers with big smiles on their faces. :-) Making your clients happy: that’s the most beautiful occupation.
