Guest Nights Up 3% This August

The number of guest nights spent in commercial accommodation in Hungary rose by an annual 3% to 4,439,000 in August, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said. Guest nights spent by Hungarian tourists rose by 2.3% to 2,390,000, while nights spent by foreign visitors grew by 3.8% to 2,049,000.

The highlight of the competition – reported the newspaper of the age – was a large-scale flower corso.

The American Maurine Emilie Kornfeld is the oldest female swimmer at the 2017 FINA Masters World Championships. She was the only one who entered the 800 m freestyle event in the 95-99 age group, and managed to set a new world record with an amazing performance.

The British and Hungarian air forces are holding joint exercises from August 21 until August 25, the Hungarian ministry of defence said. The exercises dubbed Carpathian Hawk are being directed from the Hungarian airbase at Kecskemét.
