The United States Department of State is urging the Hungarian government to suspend implementation of an amended law on higher education, acting spokesman Mark Toner said at a press briefing in Washington, DC on Monday, local time. He said the US government is “very concerned” about the legislation which was passed by Hungary’s parliament last week and signed into law by the president this week.

The demonstrators gathered at Corvinus University to move under a sign showing “Freedom for Education” in Hungarian and also in English to the CEU headquarters in Nádor street and later to Kossuth Square in front of Parliament.

In 1986 I joined the Postás Sports Club and then, through a scholarship, continued in the USA with the University of Minnesota’s gymnastics team. It was there that I concluded my active career in elite sport.
