The Foreign Ministry is considering a request from five Afghan interpreters who have worked with Hungarian forces in that country for permission to emigrate to Hungary with their families. Ministry spokesman Gábor Kaleta said consultations will be held with the relevant state bodies and NATO members.

The Defence Ministry and the Hungarian Armed Forces rejected accusations levelled by New Zealand Prime Minister John Key at Hungarian troops serving in Afghanistan. Key on Monday criticised the Hungarians for failing to go on patrol at night. He spoke after two New Zealand soldiers were killed and six others injured in clashes with Taliban rebels.
