The number of flu patients has doubled since last week, over 31,000 people seeking medical advice, epidemiology centre OEK reported. In the second half of the week, the number of patients seeing their doctors because of flu-like symptoms has increased in all parts of the country, OEK said.

A smog alert has been withdrawn in Budapest since the concentration of airborne particles has now fallen to the desired level, mainly thanks to favourable weather conditions, the mayor’s office said on Tuesday.

Drinking nozzles were mounted on 43 hydrants on the streets of Budapest, Judit Soltész, who is one of the adapter’s inventors, said. Initially the blue adapters have been installed in the city centre around Deák tér.

The National Weather Service Thursday evening issued a special weather alert from Thursday until midnight on Sunday as temperatures exceeding 26C degrees on Friday and 27C over the weekend are expected in most of the country. Residents are asked to drink plenty of fluids in the coming days and, if possible, to avoid the blazing sun between 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
