Cinemira International Children’s Film Festival in Budapest this October

The Cinemira International Children’s Film Festival is Hungary’s only event dedicated to films for children and teenagers. This year, the festival expands to two weekends to reach a wider young audience. Cinemira TEEN takes place from October 8-10 at Akvárium Club in central Budapest, while Cinemira KIDS, for ages 4 to 12, will be held on October 23-24 at Millennium Park.

Born of Ghanaian descent in 1988, the British pianist, singer and songwriter moved to Paris in his teens, where he began his career as a homeless subway and street musician. He has since risen from the underground to appear in the world's most elegant concert halls.

Organisers rightly claim that this contemporary arts fest offers unique, 'not-to-be-missed' forms of entertainment. With almost 110 events at 40 venues, the colourful programme includes productions in classical and pop music, jazz and world music, opera, theatre and contemporary circus, along with evenings of literature and visual art exhibits.
'Swinging Amy', Festival Theatre, 29 August

Legendary British soul singer Amy Winehouse was also wonderful as a jazz performer, covering some of the best-known songs of the age. Although she released only two albums in her lifetime, her music has inspired numerous singers - among them Hungarian audience favourite Gabi Szűcs.
