Szeged’s Botanical Garden becomes a vibrant hub of colour, fragrance, and culture as it hosts the annual Lotus Days festival on 26 - 27 July. The event is centred around the blooming of Central Europe’s largest colony of Indian lotus (Nelumbo nucifera), set within the serene Japanese garden pond of the University of Szeged’s arboretum.

The Japanese Collection is the second largest collection department of the Ferenc Hopp Museum of Asiatic Arts. It has been formed for 150 years: it covers hundreds of years, consists of almost eight thousand objects coming from almost two hundred collectors.

Parallel Diversities between East and West, links the emblematic oriental metropolis of Shanghai with the Sanghay Bar in Budapest, a perfect encapsulation of the contradictory image of the East that prevailed in Hungary between the wars.
Meeting the Buddha
Meeting the Buddha presents the life and legacy of the 16th Karmapa, Rangjung Rigpe Dorje—the head of the Karma Kagyu lineage, one of four main schools of Tibetan Buddhism. The film captures the remarkable presence of this spiritual teacher, known as a Living Buddha and the King of the Yogis. We meet Ole Nydahl, a wild young hippy from Denmark who, as a small child, had declared his wish to become the "Danish champion of mind." His life is radically transformed by a chance encounter with the Karmapa in Nepal in 1969. Ole and his wife, Hannah, become key figures in bringing Tibetan Buddhism to the West, founding hundreds of meditation centres—from Mexico City to Vladivostok—and carrying forward their teacher's vision with unshakable dedication.
