All Saints' Day is a celebration of all Christian saints, particularly those who have no special feast days of their own, in many Roman Catholic, Anglican and Protestant churches. In many western churches it is annually held November 1. It is also known as All Hallows Tide, All-Hallomas, or All Hallows' Day.

On this National Holiday, also known locally as 'the day of the dead' (Halottak Napja), all main shops and public offices are closed. Traditionally, instead of celebrating 'Halloween', Hungarians head to the cemeteries for All Soul's Day - also known as All Hallows Tide, All-Hallomas, or All Hallows' Day.

Budapest cemeteries had hundreds of thousands of visitors on All Hallows’ Day recently, the Budapest Funeral Institute said, just like before according to local tradition. Many expats are not familiar with this Hungarian custom, and so here are a few photos for your interest.
