Remains Of German Soldiers Found In Budapest

The remains of two German soldiers were found next to a World War II bomb and other ordnance on Dísz tér in Buda Castle on Tuesday, the Defence Ministry revealed. It was established on the basis of the remnants of the clothes and various objects that the bodies are those of German soldiers, but there was nothing to identify them individually.

In 2014 the Annual Service of Remembrance will be held on Sunday, 9 November. The traditional service and wreath-laying ceremony will take place at the Commonwealth War Cemetery of Solymár at 10:55. Everybody is welcome to attend the ecumenical service. Those who do are kindly requested to arrive at the cemetery no later than 10:45 please. The service lasts approximately 20 minutes.

The remains of 12 Hungarian and German soldiers were found during excavations near the Várkert Kaszinó at the foot of Buda Castle, it was announced on Friday. One Hungarian and four German soldiers were positively identified.
