The Budapest Hard Rock Café is among the company’s five best performing units in Europe since it opened five months ago, European operations chief Antonio Bautista declared. An average of 15,000-16,000 guests have visited the café on Vörösmarty tér, and close to 20,000 in April. In general, half of the guests are foreign and half are Hungarian.

The Central Prosecutors Office is investigating what may be one of the biggest series of abuses committed by Hungarian police, based on reports filed by the National Police, Népszabadság reports. The suspicion is that a group of senior officers regularly offered Budapest Police services for cash – for instance securing dangerous or oversize shipments – without issuing invoices.

Hungarian mountaineer Tibor Horváth died when an ice avalanche swept him away and buried him as he was descending from a 6,800 metre camp in the Himalayas on Saturday, Szabolcs Vincze, press chief for the Annapurna expedition, told Inforádió on Monday. He said there is practically no chance of retrieving his body.
