The public debut of the “Jeles” will take place 13 August 2014, at the Sziget Festival, where anyone can get first hand experience with the app that has been developed mainly for children with no hearing disability. Developed by Hallatlan Foundation and the Vodafone Hungary Foundation, “Jeles” will officially be available for free download to iOS and Android devices from September.

The perception of corruption in Hungary remains high, as 60% of respondents to a recent survey said bribery is common, up from 58% two years ago, according to consultancy Ernst & Young. In Central Europe the corresponding figures were 47% and 51%, respectively.

On May 25 Hungary will hold its election for the European Parliament. The government party opted to hold the national election on April 6 and a separate EP election seven weeks later. There was nothing that would have prevented the authorities from holding both elections on May 25, but such an arrangement wasn’t deemed advantageous to the governing party.
