Event Report: Tranzit Festival On The Border, In Hungary

The Tranzit Festival is organised with the aim to help integrate Hungary’s youth into politics and prepare them for participation in public life, Minister of Defence Csaba Hende stated at the festival’s opening yesterday. This year, 20 August celebrations will be held under the slogan “The country – together as one”. A special feature of this year’s events is that the series of programmes Nagyon Balaton (Very Balaton!) will include colourful family events, concerts and fireworks in several towns along the shores of Lake Balaton to commemorate the foundation of the Hungarian State.

Hungarian Court Broadens Definition Of Family

The Constitutional Court struck down provisions on the notion of family and inheritance law in the act on family protection on Monday. The court established that certain provisions contravene the Basic Law. It found that the act on family law defined family too narrowly as the marriage of one man and one woman only.

The celebrations will begin on August 19 when the 'Street of Hungarian Flavours' will open at noon between the Buda side of the Erzsébet híd and Bem tér. Awards will be presented for Hungary’s best cake, sugar-free cake and ice cream. Pop music will play on Clark Ádám tér and on Bem tér from 8pm.
