It is interesting and, of course, a source of pride that the Hungaroring is the second venue (after Monza) to be on the calendar without interruption.

It is also the world's most popular, biggest and most professional car series, watched by tens of millions of viewers on television every week, and in recent years its star has risen even higher thanks to the exciting competition.

Last year the Hungarian F1 Grand Prix was a sell-out event (303,000 spectators over the four days) and if it continues at this rate, the Hungarian circuit will be packed this year as well. See the video below for a Preview and Predictions for the F1 GP in Hungary.

High Speed Test Again in 2024

A special Thursday activity for F1 fans will be held again at the Hungaroring before the Hungarian Grand Prix starts. Firstly, at 2pm you can watch the High Speed Track Test of the FIA Safety and Medical Cars from the Super Gold Grandstand, and then you can walk down to the Pit Lane and have a closer look at the racing cars. 

* A limited number of tickets will be available for only the weekend ticket holders at a price of €35. Note: not only the High Speed Test tickets, but also the weekend passes will have to be presented onsite to pick up the wristbands for entry.  One weekend pass (Friday-Saturday-Sunday) and one High Speed Test ticket will entitle you to one wristband.

Formula 1 to race in Hungary until 2032

Formula 1® has announced that the Hungarian Grand Prix will remain on the calendar for an additional five years until 2032, extending the existing deal that ran until 2027.

The new agreement follows an announcement that the Hungaroring will undergo significant development and refurbishment in the coming years, including a new pit building and main grandstand. 

Located just 20km outside the historic city of Budapest, the iconic 4.38km Hungaroring has been part of the F1 calendar since 1986, with many legends of the sport claiming victory at the circuit, including Michael Schumacher and Ayrton Senna, who won four and three Hungarian Grands Prix respectively. 

Five of the 2023 grid have been victorious at the Hungarian Grand Prix, with Lewis Hamilton holding a record eight wins, while this season Fernando Alonso will celebrate 20 years since he claimed his first ever win in Formula 1 at the circuit in 2003.

The returning Daniel Ricciardo won in 2014, while Esteban Ocon claimed his maiden victory in 2021, and Max Verstappen will be looking to make it back-to-back wins this year after his success last season.

To see the commitment from the promoter in Hungary to develop the facilities and further enhance the experience for fans is another important step and something we want to see all our events doing in order to continue to improve and make our races even better.”

My colleagues and I began work on this significant development project eight years ago and today’s announcement acts as the crowning accomplishment for our collective efforts. I would therefore like to thank everyone involved in getting us to this point today and look forward to many more years of premium F1 racing at the Hungaroring.“

“The Formula 1 Hungarian GP has been hosted at the Hungaroring since 1986 and is second only to Monza in hosting F1 races consecutively on the Formula 1 calendar.

This race has gone far beyond a simple sporting event: It is one of the most important international events in Hungary, with tens of thousands of foreign fans visiting the country every year and television coverage seen around the world.

We are delighted to announce, that on behalf of the Ministry of Defence, Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky has signed a contract extension that will see us to host the race until 2032.

It is important to underline that the rights holder has set the condition on us to finish the complete renewal of the Hungaroring by the 2026 race. We plan to finalise the results of the public procurement procedure for the works by the end of this year, following which the works can start at the beginning of 2024."
