The council of Budapest’s District 8 has filed a criminal complaint concerning the neglected former headquarters of the Socialist Party in II János Pál square (formerly Köztársaság sq). The building, originally constructed as a hotel for members of the Communist-era National Council of Trade Unions (SZOT) in 1971, was demolished in the early 1990s.
