“Viktoria - A Tale of Grace and Greed” is a feature film, produced with Swiss money, which captures the dramatic ins and outs of Hungarian prostitutes working the streets of Zurich. “Hello Schatzi, jössz fickizni? [will you have sex with me?],” is a phrase in a mixture of Hungarian and German languages one gets to hear on streets of Switzerland’s cities, where local Johns request a bit of sex.

The first BIDF will show 32 features and 9 short documentaries between September 25 and 28. The films presented personally by their creators will compete in four special categories. A selection of the best Hungarian documentaries of the past 25 years will also be shown.

Judgment in Hungary, a documentary about the trial of the serial murderers of Roma in Hungary from 2008-09, has received two awards at the Sarajevo film festival, writes vs.hu. Besides the award granted by the festival’s jury (chaired this year by the retired Hungarian director Béla Tarr) the film also received the Human Rights Award.

Nine films from Norway, Sweden, France, Iceland, Turkey, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile and the US are competing for the Breaking Waves main prize of this year’s Titanic International Film Festival in Hungary. The head of the international jury is multi-award winning Hungarian filmmaker János Szász. Irish black comedy Calvary opened the festival on April 4.
