The Hungarian musicians of PapaJazz are without exception lovers and virtuoso players of American jazz, and within it New Orleans jazz and swing, while American jazz star Scott Robinson is a dedicated exponent of the Hungarian folk music of the tárogató.

The festival was established in 2004 by a group of young Hungarian filmmakers in order to fill a gap in the category of short film, but over the years it became clear that it was about much more. The international breakthrough came rapidly on the 3rd festival in 2007 when shorts were screened from 45 countries.

Two new venues were added to this year's festival, two beautiful synagogues: one on Bethlen square and one in Hegedűs Gyula street. Organisers told XpatLoop, "this year’s multi-arts festival will have a wide variety of events featuring literature, music, dance, and children’s show for the youngest audience."
