Report: Government Could Scrap Sunday Closings Law

The Hungarian government may be considering scrapping the year-old law that prevents retailers from opening on Sundays, as the Prime Minister’s Office reportedly asked a handful of the country’s larger retailers what they thought of the possibility of reinstating Sunday openings in the past few days, daily Népszabadság reported.

Grape growers from central and southern Hungary’s Kunság region protested at the Italian embassy in Budapest against what they say is a large influx of Italian imported wine. The demonstration was organised by the interest-protection association of grape growers who say cheap Italian imports make it impossible for Kunság winemakers to survive in the market.
Hungary Has Second Lowest Gas Prices In EU

Thanks to government mandated cuts to utility fees, Hungary has the second lowest price of natural gas in the European Union based on purchasing power parity (PPP), Fidesz MP Szilárd Németh told a press conference in Budapest. Whereas in 2010 Hungary was the country where consumers had to pay the most for gas in the EU, now only Romania has lower gas prices, based on PPP exchange rates.
