The Budapest assembly unanimously approved an opposition proposal to restore a temporary homeless allowance in a vote on Monday. The related amendment submitted by opposition LMP deputy Antal Csárdi restores the ten-month 11,400 forint (EUR 38) monthly allowance scrapped at the beginning of March.

Budapest is to host the 2017 FINA World Championships, which will be the biggest international event so far in the history of Hungary, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán announced at a press conference on Wednesday. Hungarian director Károly Mészáros’s first cinema film, the absurd romantic comedy Liza, The Fox-Fairy, has won the main prize and the award for the best visual effects at the thirty-fifth Fantasporto international film festival, held in Porto, Portugal. It is the first time in the festival’s 35-year history that the main prize, named Fastasporto Grand Prix, has gone to a Hungarian movie.
