Hungary May Run Out Of Fish On 17 August, Says WWF

As of 9 July Europe used up all domestic fish resources, according to the World Wildlife Fund. They say Slovakia ran out of domestic fish resources on February 18, Romania on February 29, Bulgaria on June 1, and Hungary is poised to run out on August 17.

Hungarians’ diets are improving as they eat less meat but more fish, and cut back on fatty foods and alcohol, data compiled in a report by the Central Statistical Office (KSH) show. This was a big festival, and for those who love fish and fish dishes this was the place to go. The Hortobágyi Fish Farm’s crew and the capitals of fish soups - Szeged and Baja - were on show. You could also find local restaurants and the best of the country’s street food restaurants.
