High qualification is well rewarded in Hungary in terms of earnings, with workers holding university degrees earning twice as much as those with a secondary education, the OECD said in its Education at a Glance 2015 report. The report said the large earnings advantage may in part be due to the relatively small share of people holding higher education degrees in Hungary.

This year’s “medium-level” secondary school final exams in Mathematics and Hungarian Language have produced worse results than last year, the daily newspaper Magyar Nemzet reports, citing data provided by the Hungarian Educational Authority. Results in basic-level Mathematics, which are the worst in six years, give cause for special concern, the article says.

This year a unique team entered the famous Danube Regatta rowing competition: the men’s crew of Harvard University rowing team grabbed paddles and kept rowing until they reached the first place and won the race.
