Retail sales in Hungary rose 4.3% year-on-year in April, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said in a first reading of data on Tuesday. Growth slowed from 8.7% in the previous month, when spending rose in the run-up to the Easter holiday.

In March 2018, the volume of sales in retail shops rose by 8.7% according to raw data and, mainly due to the Easter effect, by 7.3% adjusted for calendar effects compared to March 2017, a second estimate from the Central Statistical Office (KSH) shows. Both figures are 0.2 of a percentage point higher than in the first flash estimate on May 4.
