Whether it was the first attempt at a new sport, or a newfound friendship, everybody came away from the Sports Center on June 16 with a cherished memory. The event, part of the „Road to London” Olympics event series and organized jointly by Seedling Trust and the Hungarian Special Olympics Committee, gave its participants a great day of sports, games and getting to know each other.

We knew it was going to be a great day, but it surpassed everybody's expectations. Hungarian mountaineer Tibor Horváth died when an ice avalanche swept him away and buried him as he was descending from a 6,800 metre camp in the Himalayas on Saturday, Szabolcs Vincze, press chief for the Annapurna expedition, told Inforádió on Monday. He said there is practically no chance of retrieving his body.

Last week I beat an Olympic champion at tennis. OK, an ex-Olympic champion. A water-polo ex-Olympic champion. And it was Wii tennis (the video game). And he’d never played before. But a win’s a win, right? It was at a fantastic event which the Embassy supported. A competition for able-bodied children and children with disabilities to celebrate 100 days to go to the London Olympics.

"I can’t wait for the Olympics to start. I love to watch sport and the Olympics is really special. It’ll be even more special this year in London. I didn’t get any tickets in the public ballot so I’ll be watching the Games on TV. But the quality and diversity of the competition will be outstanding.
