It has become a tradition in the course of the Budapest music competitions to organize every fith year an international violin competition named after the world-famous Hungarian violinist József Szigeti. Gwendolyn Masin, child of a Hungarian mother and an Irish father, is a popular violinist in Europe's greatest concert venues. The Beijing National Theatre troupe will give performances of the opera Red Rock at the Hungarian State Opera on Wednesday and Thursday. The company will present Chinese traditional culture in Budapest following performances in Vienna and Prague on a tour of Europe. Red Rock blends motifs from traditional Chinese opera, Far Eastern folk music and western music.
