Roughly a thousand foreigners have given the address of a 40-bed motel in Budapest’s 19th district as their permanent place of residence in the run-up to Sunday’s municipal elections, according to left-wing daily Népszabadság. The majority are Romanian citizens but a number of Slovaks have also registered the Viktória Pension as their permanent place of Hungarian residence.

Further questions will be put to Commissioner-designate Tibor Navracsics in Brussels before MEPs decide whether or not to endorse his candidacy, a source close to the cultural committee said on condition of anonymity.
