We haven’t talked about the tobacconist shops lately, although there is quite a bit to be said about them. First and foremost, that as the result of the newly restricted availability and the price hikes black market sales of cigarettes have soared in the last couple of months. Having a free Sunday morning on my hands, a friend and I visited the Szimplakert Haztaji Market. The great ambiance was still there. Almost every seller had samples out to try, whether it be szorp, jam, baked goods, spreads or cheese. All the sellers were friendly, chatty, and proud of their products.

Sunday morning Lydia and I explored the newish Szimplakert Haztaji Piac (open Sunday 9-14, Kazinczy u. 14, VII ker). I cannot stand the crowds at night at Szimpla, so I tend to avoid it.
