700 employees from 30 international and Hungarian companies joined the 10.000 steps initiative, launched by the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in September 2015. The first milestone of the 100-day program is a half-day walk organized on October 8, where close to a hundred participants walked from the St Stephen’s Basilica to the Margaret Island.

Hungary needed to erect a fence on its border with Serbia because “freedom was at stake”, the interior minister told parliament’s defence and law enforcement committee. Sándor Pintér said the EU’s Schengen rules stipulate that the zone’s external borders have to be protected and that measures must be in place to prevent anyone from crossing the “green” border.

The new sports channel M4, launched in July, is costing Ft 5.4 billion. Due to the rising costs, the government will assume Ft 47.2 billion of debts from state media. MTVA’s budget for this year is Ft 80 billion.
