An MP of governing Fidesz has submitted a motion to Parliament that would allow local councils to ban sales of spirits in tobacco shops between 10:00 in the evening and 6:00 in the morning.

Eighth District Fidesz mayor Máté Kocsis and Budapest police chief Tamás Tóth yesterday called on owner state asset manager MNV and state railway company MÁV to cancel the rental contract of the Józsefvárosi market, due to a recent rise in crime there. Kocsis said the Négy Tigris Piac (Four Tigers Market) costs the state Ft 15 billion in lost tax revenue, according to estimates.
