Tosca was an eagerly awaited piece, but its eventual reception was lukewarm. It was only gradually that this fast-paced work, often called an action opera, became a box-office success. Géza Csáth, who wrote about it a few years after the Italian premiere, credited Puccini with a comprehensive and thorough knowledge of theatre, music and the extremely complex psychological processes of reception.

This is not the first time the Szeged Contemporary Dance Company have been featured at the Spring Festival, or have performed with a symphonic orchestra.
