More than one hundred media outlets joined on Thursday evening the action protesting against the planned ad tax. At the behest of the Hungarian Advertising Association, television, radio, print and internet journalists voiced their objections to the related bill which was submitted to parliament on Monday.

HírTV will join 16 other channels in broadcasting a blank screen for 15 minutes from 7:15 p.m.

Hungary plans to extend a ban on the construction of big shopping centres in spite of an infringement procedure launched by the European Commission, daily Magyar Nemzet reports. Kristóf Szatmáry, state secretary at the economy ministry, told the paper that the continuation of the ban was justified.
